Lucy, the Daughter of the Devil is a CGI cartoon centered around the Biblically incorrect interpretation of canon figures. As a truncated calembour to the son of the Devil, Lucy is a 21 year old living in San Francisco. She is routinely ensnared by her officious father into schemes to take over the world and fulfill her destiny as the Antichrist.
As fate would have it, Lucy meets the laid back party spinning DJ-Jesus and sparks fly. At first Da-Da, the complacent exegetic Devil, isn’t fond of the couple, and plans to immediately kill the DJ. Satan soon realizes the pair aren’t exactly a match made in heaven and decides to use other methods to ward off the Jesus; although killing him isn’t entirely out of the question, as long as it doesn’t require too much of his time.
Amid this entire mess, a group of Special assasin Fathers (and a special Sister) are on a quest from the Vatican to find and destroy the Antichrist. The characters all inevitably cross paths many times in this hilarious comedy directed by Loren Bouchard. The show features many of the same cast and crew of Bouchard’s previous show Home Movies, including Melissa Bardin Galsky, H. Jon Benjamin, Eugene Mirman, and Sam Seder. The show airs weeknights (save Monday) at 12 midnight on the Cartoon Network as part of the Adult Swim.
CAST:
- Lucy (Melissa Bardin Galsky, Jessi Klein in the pilot): The Antichrist. She has graduated art school, but is on no fixed career path. Instead she has taken a position as a bartender at her fathers restaurant. She strives to get her father and boyfriend (DJ Jesus) closer together.
- DJ Jesús (Jon Glaser): A DJ and the messiah. Wanting to be more than just a DJ, he began incorporating “nearacles” (“Like, almost miracles, but not quite.”) into his DJing sets.
- The Devil (H. Jon Benjamin aka Coach McGuirk): The embodiment of pure evil is more of a logical and playful entrepreneur than a venomous dark lord. He seems more interested in having a good laugh than taking over the world.
- Becky (Melissa Bardin Galsky): Officially titled the “Devil’s Advocate”, Becky serves as a personal assistant and manager for the Devil, although she seems to be the voice of ambition probing the Devil towards his ultimate goal of ruling the world.
- Judas (H. Jon Benjamin): DJ Jesús’ sycophantic personal assistant. Usually found at the DJ’s side, kissing ass and pandering to Jesus’s every need.
- Senator Robert “Bob” Whitehead (Sam Seder): A satanic U.S. Senator who tries to keep his religious practices under wraps. The Devil and Becky have made plans for his ascension to the Presidency, with Lucy by his side; however, Lucy is not one bit interested in the quirky politician.
- The Special Clergy: Two priests and a nun on a mission from the Vatican to save the world from the Antichrist.
- Special Father #1 – Giuseppe Cantalupi (H. Jon Benjamin): The leader of the trio. He is heard giving a monologue at the beginning of almost every episode.
- Special Father #2 – Benetti (Sam Seder): The most quiet of the three. He speaks with an Italian accent and is never seen without his night-vision goggles.
- Special Sister – Mary (Eugene Mirman): With two lazy eyes and a shrill, grating voice, the trigger happy Sister Mary seems to be the most dedicated to the Special Clergy’s mission.
