If you enjoy running the trails, you probably also enjoy making it home without sore feet, twisted ankles or ripped Achilles tendons. You wouldn’t run 10 miles in dress shoes, so why would you run through the woods with plain old running sneakers? The Montrail GTX lightweight performance hiker is designed for the serious user who likes pushing the pace with or without a pack. The ridged yet cushioning sole provides support and comfort. The higher top with extended side shoelace loops provides good ankle stability while the GORE-TEX material adds breathability and protection from water.

The new Tundraline 3 Tent from Eureka is specifically designed for extreme canoeists. With an extra easy set up and a ton of stake loops, this deceptively large tent is convenient and stable in windy conditions. The reason this is such a great tent for the canoeist is that it’s very stable for wind tunnel nights along the banks of the river. Second, this only has two poles and a sawn-in-place rain fly which means: you can set up quickly in the rain without getting the interior wet. Definitely a great tent to have in the lineup for any outdoor enthusiast.
*Attention kayakers, get your own damn tent!

You can swim, yet you still wear a life vest, why should it be any different for your best friend? If conditions are severe enough to knock your dog into the water, they might also be severe enough to injure or impair your dogs ability to swim. The Extreme Fido Float is designed to fit comfortably around your K9 while providing swim assisting buoyancy with a collar that keeps your dogs head above water. The best features are the two handles that allow you to lift your hound easily out of the water, making the Extreme Fido Float practical for use anytime your pet is on the water.

Ever wonder where Poseidon kicks it after a long day? Considering he can’t leave the water and that he’s make-believe, I’d say nowhere near the Red Sea Star Underwater Restaurant.
The Red Sea Star is the first underwater Restaurant and Bar. It’s located in the busy tourist destination of Eilat, which is Israel’s southernmost city. The underwater eatery is only 5m (16 ft.) below the surface of the Red Sea (on the Gulf of Eilat), so there’s no need for a decompression chamber, and there’s plenty of natural light to “sea” the beautiful corals and marine life. The ocean inspired decor offers an enchanting environment that is dually suitable for romance or children. With sea cucumber columns and jellyfish chairs it’s difficult to abate a tacky atmosphere, but with sandy floors covered with clear epoxy and a variety of exotic dishes the Red Sea Star pulled it off.

Socks are important, especially for active people. Socks prevent harsh rubbing while protecting your shoes from nasty foot juices, they’re like condoms for your feet, except they make it feel better!
The TekoPoly socks from Teko are made from 76% recycled polyester, proving that performance apparel can be manufactured without completely compromising our ecosystem; Teko strives for the highest level of performance with the lowest ecological footprint. The sock knitting is done in North Carolina via 100% wind-power; well maybe 99%, there are people involved too!
*If you want to qualify as super awesome, you’ll have to buy these in red; there’s just no better performance than from the Red Sox!

Do you want to do more with a foreign language than just memorize words and phases?
I’ve been playing around with Rosetta Stone for a couple weeks now, and it really is the best tool I’ve ever seen for learning a new language. With 31 languages, the programs focus on immersion with no translation.
Basically, it’s a more organized and highly accelerated scenario of being dropped off in a foreign country; your brain connects words with images to learn naturally without memorization.

Afraid of your Cam walking in on you while you’ve got your fingers jammed up a crack?
Well, if you stay true to Wild Country’s Tech Friends you’ll have no reason to worry about getting caught in a tight jam or far worse, your Cam walking out on you. Wild Country Technical Friends Cam Set has low side-to-side cam-lobe wobble and offers seamless trigger operation for the smooth climber. The color code system might seem elementary, but it makes all the difference in the world when you need to quickly identify the right piece before your crimper hold gives.

[Get It $25]
The best things about air travel are the awesome lines at security and the spacious seating situation once on board, although now airlines are charging all kinds of extra fee’s for baggage, so that’s super cool as well.
The TraveLite Luggage Scale is a lightweight, compact and durable, handheld scale used to ward off the ugly overage fee’s at check-in; no more balancing awkwardly on the bathroom scale. The digital readout quickly tells you the weight of your bag and if you’re dyslexic, a green light will indicate a weight under 50 pounds while a red light means get rid of some more stuff.
The device even has a built-in LED flashlight, so you can justify traveling with it.

If you enjoy vomiting and explosive diarrhea, by all means don’t use the SteriPen Traveler on your next adventure.
The Traveler is half the size of the SteriPEN Classic with the same great attributes. The convenient pocket sized gadget purifies water by way of an ultraviolet light. The UV kills 99.9 percent of protozoa while simultaneously turning you into a super hero upon consumption of the radioactive H2O*.
The SteriPen has been proven to protect against common microbes such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia as well as pathogens that cause Hepatitis and Legionnaires disease. This is the perfect travel companion to “at risk” water countries or long camping trips.
Also look for the SteriPen Adventurer with the Solar Charging Case. This item is not recommended for individuals seeking to contract Cholera, Botulism, or sound travel habits.
*The UV light doesn’t actually alter the water aside from protecting you against various microbes, pathogens and germs, i.e. you will not gain super powers.

[Get It $250]
The Voltaic Backpack is a rough-grade glimpse into the not-so-distant future when accessories harness and store energy, and a weekend hike can start without the worry of having a fully charged cell phone.
The Voltaic line converts light energy to talk time and ipod life via a series of solar panels located on the back face of the bag. The pack comes equipped with 11 adaptors for any sort of electronic gadget you might be rolling with, a battery pack that stores harnessed energy for use when the suns gone down, and convenient pockets for your laptop, phone, ipod, etc.
Despite the old school JanSport style, this is a rouged sac that I would recommend to anyone in need of a daypack with 1,850 cubic inches of storage space. The padded mesh back cuts down on back sweat by providing more airflow while the mesh straps provide ergonomic comfort.
Best of all, the shell of this bag is made from recycled soda bottles, very cool.
