Voltaic Solar Backpack- it sounds cool because it is!

Voltaic Solar Backpack- it sounds cool because it is!

[Get It $250]

Voltaic Solar Panel BackpackThe Voltaic Backpack is a rough-grade glimpse into the not-so-distant future when accessories harness and store energy, and a weekend hike can start without the worry of having a fully charged cell phone.
The Voltaic line converts light energy to talk time and ipod life via a series of solar panels located on the back face of the bag.  The pack comes equipped with 11 adaptors for any sort of electronic gadget you might be rolling with, a battery pack that stores harnessed energy for use when the suns gone down, and convenient pockets for your laptop, phone, ipod, etc.
Despite the old school JanSport style, this is a rouged sac that I would recommend to anyone in need of a daypack with 1,850 cubic inches of storage space.  The padded mesh back cuts down on back sweat by providing more airflow while the mesh straps provide ergonomic comfort.
Best of all, the shell of this bag is made from recycled soda bottles, very cool.

Flexity Powersquid Surge 3000 Calamari Edition

[Get It $70]

Sounds like a high powered seafood machine for the rich and adventurous but it’s actually far better. This surge protector power strip solves one of modern man’s most difficult conundrums… namely how to accommodate all those bulky plugs into the same power strip without creating a daisy-chain of unsightly serge protectors. The simple yet innovative design of the Calamari edition gives you versatility with some sea creature appeal.  Offering 3,420 Joules of power surge protection, you could plug your flux capacitor into this thing with no worries.  Unlike other solutions, this is available now.  With swivels, lights, alarms, and even a DSL hook-up you’ll finally have that power problem figured, and if not you can always use the powersquid to fend off those pesky sperm whales.

Rotating Surge Protector

Rotating Surge Protector

I wish companies would stop making Bohemian sized AC power plugs that hog up all the space on the power strip.  Why can’t they all use those coil transformers you find in the middle of laptop cords.  Most brands are wising up, but there’s always going to be that dumb ass company that hasn’t clued in yet.  That’s where the rotating surge protector swoops in to save the day.  The image above is merely a design by Cyber Demon, but I like the set-up.  The sockets rotate 180 degrees to accommodate any combination of plugs, chargers, and adapters. The dials on the front allow you to select an icon that represents what you’ve plugged in; no more jiggling or un-knotting cables just to unhook the correct plug.  If you can’t wait for this design to be a reality, check out some of the other options on the market, such as the Belkin wall version, the CTA strip, or the Powersquid.
