How freakin fun are these things! Not only do Flashlight friends from Nite Ize personify flashlights in an uber fun way, they’re also functional. You can bend the appendages in any direction to create unique poses while positioning the angle of light exactly where you need it.
You don’t need glasses or eyeball surgery to see at night, you just need a little help from your friends; your Flashlite Friends. If I was 10 years younger with an incandescent light bulb head I would take these Flashlite Friends to dinner and a movie; maybe even let them spend the night! So make some new friends with a couple guys that have a very bright future.

As you can see by the clear ridged backbone and spinal discs of this mood lamp, the Jellephish has no relation to the invertebrate class of marine animals known as the Jellyfish. Hence the obvious spelling difference and the fact that one is a sea creature and the other is a lamp.
Made my Jellephish Design and distributed by Smart Candle, the Jellephish Mood Lamp uses processor controlled digital LED technology to illuminate the clear acrylic base and dome shaped head with an almost endless array of colors dependent on your mood.
Set the lamp to casually scroll various colors, choose to keep a single static color, or my personal favorite, set the Jellephish’s sound activated feature. The lamp will actually change with your music. I happen to enjoy jamming out on the guitar while the Jellephish instantaneously changes with each pluck of the strings, it’s like having my own light show…very, very cool.

Includes the following:

JellePhish Mood Lamp

Stylish Acrylic Stand (Can also be surface Mounted)

Power Supply

Remote Control

Functions Include: Sound Activated, Static Color, Scrolling, and Pearlescent

JellePhish Link

The Jellephish Mood Lamp is freestanding using the acrylic base supplied, or the dome can be independently mounted flush against a wall.

Your first question might be “why?”, but I’ll then puerilely fire back, “why not“. The real question is why haven’t we seen this design before? The fact is, the flat bulb doesn’t take up as much space as a regular light bulb, it doesn’t roll around and break as easily as a regular light bulb, it’s easier to store and ship, and it provides the same amount of light as a regular light bulb…so again, why not?

Displayed by Korean designer Joonhuyn Kim, at the 2008 100% Design Tokyo, the “Flat Bulb” doesn’t yet have a manufacturer, so you can’t run out and pick one up yet, but you can try to make your own by slowly applying pressure to both sides of a normal light bulb.
