Angelina Jolie is going to slit her wrists with excitement when she gets a load of these! With non-polluting production and recycled paper packaging, BATUCADA designs has not only made a statement on the environmental front, but an expression on your body as well.
Since this beautiful jewelry line is "green", it can fashionably be worn for elegant or dressy functions, while also being durable and inexpensive enough for the beach or gym; try getting that with Georg Jensen!

The "eco plastic" is a tough, flexible, synthetic rubber made entirely from eco friendly certified components that fit snuggly against your skin for a lightweight tattoo-like appearance.  Unlike conventional silicone rubbers, this jewelry has a silkier embrace that accentuates the female figure with a variety of colors and designs that can actually morph from necklaces, to bracelets (or anklets) and back again; truly a new generation of jewelry.

BioBags – what are obags and why are they bi?

[Get It $5]

BioBags

I know Hoe-Bags that are Bi, but what are oBags?

BioBags are environmentally friendly garbage bags made from corn, a.k.a. when used properly, they will degrade relatively quickly. It’s definitely great that you have a compost pile and you recycle, but think about all those plastic trash bags you and your neighbors are filling the landfill with? The company, BioBag, makes 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable bags and films from the material, Mater-Bi; no polyethylene is used in the production process.

[Get It: TBA]

Bottle thin I’ll have a water and a Gatorade, hold the Cancer.
The million dollar question is "why hasn’t anyone made this before?", it’s such an useful upgrade to the standard water bottle.  The SWIGZ Extreme 2.0 is the second generation of the world’s first dual beverage sports bottle.  Made from recycled material with No BPA, Polycarbonate or PVC’s this water bottle will deliver two kinds of liquid with no brain deterioration- every child’s dream!

The Extreme 2.0 will be available for purchase in a few weeks on the SWIGZ website.  There are four different models to choose from, but all are super bad ass cool, so don’t be afraid of choosing the wrong one.  If you’re extreme you need an extreme sports bottle to keep up, and within the world of sports fluid containers the SWIGZ is King*.

The SWIGZ is composed of durable safe plastic with two separate color coded fluid chambers.  The two sides separate when the base, middle band and top are all taken off.  Each chamber holds 12oz (24oz total).  I love this bottle for the gym and for cycling at night when one of my bottle holders is carrying the battery for my light.

If you can’t wait a few weeks, send an email to orders@swigz.com for advanced purchase.

Go Green for Patty’s Day…with plastic bags?

[Get It $25]

image

Thanks to RecycleCindy you have something to do with the ten billion plastic grocery bags hiding under your sink; you can use them to make one totally awesome bag or you can just buy one from Cindy.

I know, St. Patrick’s Day is all about drinking green beer and waking up with someone else’s underwear on, but maybe it’s also about finding a way to be green.  At "My Recycled Bags" you can find crocheted eco-friendly bags, totes and purses, made mostly of 100% recycled materials such as plastic grocery bags, VHS tape, cassette tape, and re-claimed fabric. Each bag is unique with colors and sizes varying only slightly.  Cindy has even dedicated a section explaining how to make these products yourself.  I like the plastic bag hat!

Mission One Electric Bike
Mission Two- find a better plastic’s fabricator.

The Mission One EV electric sports bike unveiled this past week at the Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED) conference by Mission Motors is said to have a 150 MPH top speed and 100 foot-pounds of torque at any point between 0 and 6,500 RPM.
If you’re like me, the design is just a little too space age-ish.  If you’re not like me, go have fun on your 70 thousand dollar "Blade Runner" bike and make sure to send designer Yves Behar a thank you card for making it flashy enough that everyone worth a damn will know exactly how much you paid.

Electricity doesn’t grow on trees, normally

Electricity doesn’t grow on trees, normally

photonsynthesis, tree-like charger
This little guy sucks up the rays like any other respectable tree, but it doesn’t waste all those photons producing oxygen, instead it charges your phone.

The bonsai-like PhotonSynthesis Tree is a device by designer Vivien Muller.  It makes use of 54 mini photovoltaic leaf panels that capture all the energy you need to charge your gadget army.  All the power cords can be hidden beneath the “soil” tray.  But wait, I usually charge my gear when there is no sunlight!  No problem, this dendriform charger stores its earnings in a battery, so you can power up any time.  What’s more, is that the Lego-like branches allow you to reshape your arboreal house fixture whenever you please, just remember to not add water!

I’ve always wondered when cell phones, ipods, and camera’s were going to charge themselves, but with idea’s as cool as this, who cares.

GM Volt- fully electric vehicle

[TBA]

GM Volt
Yesterday (September 16th, 2008), GM unveiled the production model Volt.

The Volt is an extended-range electric vehicle (E-REV), not a hybrid.  Hybrids have small electric motors that move the car at slow speeds while a gas engine kicks in on the Autobahn.  The Volt however, utilizes an all-electric 161-horsepower 45KW (100 KW peak) motor capable of moving the car from 0 to 60 in 8.5 seconds with a top speed of at least 100 mph.

The Volt’s high-voltage battery pack will get you about 40 miles after a full charge from your homes wall outlet.  I know, I know, it’s still electricity so somewhere fuel is being burned or hydrogen is being split, but it’s still cleaner than igniting that Middle Eastern octane and your electricity costs will amount to a gas equivalent of about 50 cents per gallon, so it’s a whole lot cheaper to boot.

Herb & Spice Dish Drying Rack-for the greener good!

[More Info]

Herb and Spice Dish Drying Rack

I like where Designer Ran Shnaper is going here, but A) I’m not sure there’s enough water dripping off my dishes to grow healthy plants, and B) there’s never enough room on the rack to begin with, I’m not sure I want herbs taking up valuable utensil space.
I really do like the idea of having a drying rack that doesn’t need to encroach on the sink for drainage.  It’s also nice to think that I’m recycling.  The main problem here is that this product assumes I cook foods that require spices and that I don’t use the dishwasher to clean my mess; two gravely incorrect assumptions.

*Plastic sprout replicas are for holding dishes and glassware only, not intended for use as cooking herbs.
