Need a new sacrificing surface? How about a work station to provoke your creative genus? Well too bad, the Paint or Die but LOVE ME desk from Designer John Nouanesing is only a concept at the moment; I guess you’ll have to stick with the Pink Floyd and Mary Jane for those all-to-forgettable epiphanies.
If this escritoire does go into production, it will probably do very well, as will it’s service department when it has to repair all those extra drips that keep getting in the way and breaking off.

A vibrating ring you wear to bed, how can this not be good? Before you get ahead of yourself, Ring is a concept design by Meng Fandi, and I desperately hope a manufacture puts it into production soon. Here’s the idea: the charging cradle allows you to set two separate alarms, one for each of the two rings. Before you go to sleep, just slip a ring onto your finger and a silent vibrating alarm awakens you in the morning; perfect for the hearing impaired.
The concept is also great for couples that have varying work schedules, or people like myself that don’t appreciate my girlfriend’s alarm blasting 3 hours early so that she can unconsciously slap snooze, which incidentally affords me one minute of sleep every nine minutes for the following 4 hours. Of course, it’s then my fault I let her oversleep because that I didn’t realize she wasn’t conscious the 25 times she hit snooze; or when she yelled, “don’t touch me, I’m not in the mood!” Hopefully (for my sake) when someone does manufacture this incredibly awesome alarm clock, they’ll add a shock option for those stubborn sleepers. Unfortunately this device doesn’t work well for those punctual paraplegics; but what do they have that’s so pressing anyway?

[Get It $150]

If wood is the first thing you like to see in the morning, then you’re in luck!
Designed by Kouji Iwasaki, the Wooden LED Clock from Suck UK, appears to be a normal block of wood, until you plug it in. With a thin layer of real maple wood veneer the LED glows from the inside, creating the illusion that the time is actually hovering on the surface of the wood.
What a great clock for the nature enthusiast.

[More Info]

Yet another sweet visionary concept that hasn’t hit the market. The Plume Fountain Pen by Vivien Muller (the same guy that brought us the design for that nifty little solar tree) “smooshes” elegance and style into an ergonomically retarded spin off the classic fountain pen. The single polished plume pays homage to mans stenographical beginnings while the sharp lines and hidden technology celebrate our advancements.
I really like the look of a nice fountain pen or writing quill, but I always seem to get gobs of ink everywhere whenever I try to use one. Hopefully the Plume Fountain Pen will be different.

Why would you want this?
I know, your parents didn’t give you enough attention as a child, so you use possessions to force fleeting glimpses of admiration from unassuming strangers in an atypical attempt to fill (if even for a microcosmic second) that void with something you call pride but we call pretentiousness. In other words, you’re a rich prick.
Built by the 18 year old Ben J. Poss Gulak, the Uno is an electric vehicle that uses two microgyro-motors; one for turning and one for forward and backward movement. You might remember the microgyro-motor technology from Dean Kamen’s Segway. I’m a fan of Kamen because he’s from my home state and has the same birth day as myself; two excellent reasons to like someone. Ben on the other hand named his two wheeled invention the "Uno"- nice job dumb ass, why didn’t you just call it the "tripod" or the "I’m a total douche bag".
We’re just kidding Ben, we look forward to seeing what else you have in store for the future.

Watch out!
From designer Nuno Oliveira comes a new concept design for the people that want to wear a Gucci bracelet without having to sport an additional time piece. The bracelet has a cover that slides open to reveal a glass LED time display. If you want to enjoy the flawless design of Gucci jewelry without the traditional look of a wrist watch, then you’ll have to hope Gucci puts this one into production.

When you don’t have your own bathroom the next best thing is toilet pages; just because you’re sharing a bathroom doesn’t mean you have to share herpes. Toilet pages has nice iconic tabs that reminds you what task or for which person each seat is specifically designated. Designer Jan Ctvrtnik has marked the tabs and seat layers for family use. For instance, the first seat is designated for a toddler, but these could easily be changed to accommodate different circumstances. If this great concept ever goes to market I imagine there will be various models to accouter common situations.

Just what we need, children running around putting pieces of glass in their mouths.
With lollipops that look like shards of jagged glass, designer Wooteik Lim is hopping to send the message that some things can taste good and also be bad. Although, I think a child’s brain is more likely to equate the jagged dangerous objects with something yummy to eat. Maybe while Lim’s at it, he can make a play stove that belts out nursery rhymes when the child touches the burner or fruit punch that comes in a Drano jug.
Ok, so all and all, this is a pretty cool looking sucker, definitely something that will grab peoples attention. It’s also great when you need to kill time or the weird guy next to you on the bus that smells like urine.

Posted on 04 June 2009. Tags: Alarm clock pillow, Glo Pillow, Glow Pillow, pillow with built-in alarm clock review
From designers Eoin McNally & Ian Walton comes a gentler way to wake up. The Glo Pillow is designed to provide a more natural method of being woken opposed to the intrusive and incessant beeping of the traditional alarm clock.
Via an internal LED grid, the time is displayed on the pillow while the fabric side control unit is used to set the alarm. Forty five minutes before the alarm is due to wake you, the pillow begins to softly glow. The intensity of the glow increases gradually from 0 lux to 250 lux, simulating a sunrise. At the set alarm time, the light reaches an intensity that is sufficient to naturally wake a person; this is supposedly a calmer and more natural way to start the day. In theory this seems like a “sound” way to develop a healthy sleeping pattern tailored to your specific needs, but I’m not some hydro plant that needs to be tricked into budding off season. If I set an alarm, I need to know that I’ll be woken up. What happens if it’s already light in my room, or the back of my head is on the pillow?
*Great for the deaf, but does not work if you fall asleep with the light on.
